Château Cos Labory is an historic estate in the Saint Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux, classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 classification. The vineyard lies on the “Cos hill” with deep gravel soils over a clay limestone base. On average vines are around 35–38 years old. The estate has historically followed reasoned viticulture rather than strict organic or biodynamic certification, so the vineyards are not uniformly certified as organic.

The 2021 Château Cos Labory Magnum is a blend of approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc (with possibly a little Petit Verdot depending on the parcel). The grapes are vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel vats before undergoing malolactic fermentation, then aged for roughly 12–15 months in oak barrels. The resulting wine shows dark berry and blackcurrant fruit, leather, tobacco and spice on the nose; the palate is robust and structured with firm tannins and minerally backbone, leading to a long, slightly austere finish now that will soften with age. It pairs well with classic dishes such as roast beef or lamb, game, braised meats and mature cheeses.
