The producer of this wine is Château des Jacques, a highly regarded estate based in the Moulin à Vent appellation in the northern part of the Beaujolais region. The vineyards cover multiple climats including Rochegrès, Carquelin, Champ de Cour, Thorins les Vérillats, La Roche, La Rochelle and Les Caves all planted on characteristic pink granite soils. The estate has increasingly committed to organic and biodynamic practices to preserve soil life and promote sustainability, reflecting a respect for terroir and traditional viticulture.

The 2021 Moulin à Vent is made from 100% Gamay grapes that are hand harvested and sorted before a slow maceration lasting three to four weeks with periodic pigeage or pumping over, depending on vintage conditions. After fermentation the wine is aged for roughly 10 months in a mixture of concrete tanks and oak barrels in the old cellar, allowing development of structure and subtle oak nuance. On the nose and palate the wine reveals vibrant red berry fruit, such as cherry and raspberry, underpinned by floral violet notes, with supple tannins, fresh acidity and a mineral finish. It pairs wonderfully with dishes like grilled or roasted meats, charcuterie, rustic stews, mushroom dishes or semi hard cheeses all foods that will complement its bright fruit, elegance and finesse.
