Chateau Cantemerle 2020 Grand Cru Haut Medoc
Château Cantemerle is a Fifth Growth of the 1855 classification, situated in the Haut-Médoc on a broad gravel plateau near the Gironde estuary. The estate’s 90-95 hectares sit on deep, fine silica gravel soils over clay and sand, promoting drainage and concentration. Vineyard management follows sustainable, HVE-level practices with some organic style work.
The 2020 Château Cantemerle is a classic Haut-Médoc blend (approx. 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot). Grapes are hand-harvested, vinified parcel by parcel with controlled fermentation, then matured for 12 months in French oak (about 40% new). Expect blackcurrant, plum, cedar and discreet spice, medium-to-full body, supple tannins and a mineral finish; pairs with roast beef, lamb, game and mature cheeses.
