Calera Ryan Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017 is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Calera Wine Company’s Ryan Vineyard in the Mt. Harlan American Viticultural Area (AVA) of California’s Central Coast. Planted in limestone-rich soils at approximately 2,200 ft elevation with cooling maritime influence, the site produces elegant, terroir-driven Pinot Noir.
The 2017 vintage is 100% Pinot Noir and was harvested from 19 September to 6 October and aged for 17 months in French oak barrels, composed of 30% new, 20% second-use and 50% neutral. The nose shows inviting aromas of jasmine, yellow plum and cherry, while the palate unfolds deeper layers of dark cherry, cola and black licorice with soft, round tannins and a lush lingering finish. With balanced acidity and complexity, this wine matches well with roast duck, lamb, mushroom risotto or aged cheeses.
