Description

Castello della Sala is the Umbrian estate of the Antinori family, acquired in 1940 and situated near Orvieto in the rolling hills of south-west Umbria. Surrounded by vineyards at elevations of 220 to 470 metres, the estate has become one of Italy's leading producers of premium white wines. The vineyards benefit from a cool continental climate with significant day to night temperature variation, while fossil rich clay soils mixed with limestone provide excellent drainage, freshness and minerality. Antinori follows sustainable vineyard management across the estate. The wines are generally considered vegan friendly, though they are not officially vegan certified.

Bramìto della Sala 2024 is made from 100% Chardonnay. After harvesting, the grapes undergo a short cold skin maceration of 2-4 hours before gentle pressing. Following clarification, part of the must is fermented in stainless steel and part in French oak barrels at controlled temperatures, with only the barrel fermented portion undergoing malolactic fermentation before the final blend is assembled and bottled. The wine displays aromas of Williams pear, Scotch broom blossom and lime, layered with hints of toasted hazelnut, fresh butter and brioche. The palate is fresh, creamy and mineral with a long, elegant finish. It pairs beautifully with grilled fish, shellfish, roast chicken, creamy pasta dishes and soft cheeses.
