Bosinakis Aspela 2024
Produced by Bosinakis Winery in Mantinia, Aspela is one of the estate’s most distinctive wines and a fresh interpretation of the remarkable versatility of Moschofilero. Founded by brothers Sotiris and Yiannis Bosinakis, the family estate has become one of the leading names in the Peloponnese, championing the high-altitude vineyards of Mantinia through thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking. While Moschofilero is most commonly associated with fragrant white wines, the variety is naturally pink-skinned, and Aspela embraces this characteristic to create a vibrant light red. The vineyards lie at around 650 metres above sea level on limestone and clay soils, where cool mountain temperatures preserve freshness and aromatic precision while allowing the grapes to develop exceptional complexity.
Made from 100% Moschofilero, Aspela undergoes extended skin contact to gently extract colour, fine tannins and additional layers of flavour from the grape’s distinctive pink skins before fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The result is a beautifully translucent, light red wine that blurs the line between red, rosé and orange wine. Aromas of wild strawberry, sour cherry and pomegranate are intertwined with rose petals, pink peppercorn, blood orange and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is bright, savoury and energetic, with silky tannins, lively acidity and a subtle mineral edge that reflects Mantinia's limestone soils. Served lightly chilled, Aspela is wonderfully versatile at the table, offering a unique expression of Moschofilero that combines aromatic delicacy with surprising depth and structure.
