Bodegas D. Mateos is a family-owned winery based in Aldeanueva de Ebro, in Rioja Oriental, with a winemaking heritage spanning seven generations. The family's story began in 1886 with a small vineyard on the slopes of Mount Yerga, which has since grown into an estate of approximately 100 hectares. Letargo is their more modern interpretation of traditional Rioja, placing the emphasis on expressive fruit, freshness and approachable tannins. This Joven bottling comes from younger Tempranillo vines, averaging around 25 years of age.

Made from 100% Tempranillo, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks, with no oak ageing to preserve the wine's fresh fruit character. The result is a generous, fruit-forward Rioja with aromas and flavours of ripe blackberry, plum, black cherry and liquorice, alongside subtle balsamic notes. The palate is juicy and rounded, with soft tannins, a fleshy texture and a gently warming finish. An easy-drinking, characterful red that offers a more immediate style of Rioja without the influence of oak. Enjoy lightly chilled with tapas, grilled sausages, charcuterie, burgers or roast chicken.
