Blank Bottle Moment of Silence 2023

BLANKbottle is the brainchild of South African winemaker Pieter Walser, celebrated for his unconventional, story-driven approach to wine. Each label is unique, often without varietal information, encouraging drinkers to focus purely on taste and experience. His portfolio showcases small-batch, site-specific wines that capture authenticity, creativity, and a strong sense of place.

Moment of Silence 2023 is a Chenin Blanc-led blend with smaller amounts of Viognier from Wellington, with the grapes being produced from old bush vines. Whole clusters were pressed, fermented naturally in amphorae, concrete eggs and seasoned French oak, then aged eight months on lees. Expect citrus blossom, ripe pear and stone fruit aromas, layered with lemon zest, mango creaminess, subtle spice, and a lingering saline-mineral finish.
