Benjamin Bridge is a pioneering Canadian sparkling wine producer in the cool climate Gaspereau Valley of Nova Scotia, founded in 1999 by Gerry McConnell and Dara Gordon as the province’s first dedicated méthode classique house. The estate benefits from a maritime influence from the Bay of Fundy, which moderates temperatures and extends the growing season, helping the grapes retain vibrant acidity and delicate aromatics. Over 34 hectares are under vine and farmed organically with sustainable practices, and the winery focusses on minimal intervention.

The NV Brut is a traditional method sparkling wine made from a blend of the local L’Acadie Blanc 55% and Chardonnay 45%, combining the crisp vibrancy of this hybrid grape with the finesse of Chardonnay. Reserve wines from the estate’s library, dating back to its first harvest in 2002, are included to create a consistent house style (between 20%-30%). After secondary fermentation in bottle, the wine develops fine, persistent bubbles and is aged on lees for at least 18 months to add complexity and richness. It shows pale golden colour with citrus blossom, lime and saline minerality on the nose, and a luscious, vibrant palate with notes of lemon rind and smoke. This elegant Brut pairs beautifully with fresh oysters, seafood, tempura vegetables, goat cheese and celebratory toasts.
