Bargylus Jabal 2018
Domaine de Bargylus Jabal 2018 is a red wine from Domaine de Bargylus, Syria’s acclaimed estate owned by the Saadé family with consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. The vineyards lie on the slopes of Mount Bargylus near Latakia at 900–1200m, planted on clay-limestone and stony soils with Mediterranean sea breezes and wide diurnal temperature swings, which provide freshness and mineral character.
The 2018 vintage is a blend of approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah. Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented carefully, and aged for around six to eight months in oak barrels to add structure while preserving the fruit. It displays a deep ruby colour with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, subtle spice and mineral notes, supported by integrated tannins and a persistent finish. Serve at 16–18°C with grilled lamb, beef, game or rich stews.
