Barczentewicz is a family-run estate near Dobre in Poland’s Lublin region. The vineyards are planted on loess and clay-rich soils over limestone on south-west facing slopes, benefiting from a moderate continental climate that encourages slow ripening and aromatic precision.

The 2023 Pinot Blanc Beton is made from 100% Pinot Blanc grapes, hand-harvested from the limestone south-western slope of the Dobra plot at 155 meters above sea level. Fermentation takes place in a concrete, followed by eight months on the lees. The concrete allows stable maturation and micro-oxygenation, enhancing aromatic complexity. It shows white currant, subtle apricot and floral notes, with a fresh mineral character. It pairs beautifully with seafood, grilled vegetables, light poultry dishes, and fresh cheeses.

The grapes of the Pinot Blanc varietal were obtained from the limestone, south-western slope (155m above sea level) of the Dobra plot, near Kazimierz Dolny. Fermentation, and then eight-month maturation on the yeast sediment, in a concrete egg. This concrete allows the wine to mature at a stable temperature. The porosity of the material provides the wine with a minimal, but very necessary dose of oxygen. Finally, the non-random shape, especially during fermentation, helps the wine to be saturated with mannoproteins, or aromatic compounds responsible for the bouquet. And so, this Pinot Blanc seduces with white currant, subtle apricot and a bit of flowers.
