Aster Ribera del Duero Reserva 2021

Bodegas Áster is part of the renowned and historic La Rioja Alta, S.A. group. Terroirs in Ribera del Duero are famed for elevation, clay calcareous soils and marked temperature variation between day and night. The estate grows Tinta del País (Tempranillo) vines, many of which are over thirty years old, producing wines that combine power with finesse. Farming is sustainable prioritising vineyard health and careful grape selection.

Reserva 2021 Áster is made from 100% Tempranillo, hand-harvested grapes from surrounding vineyards in Anguix. Fermentation and maceration last 15 days followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak. The wine is aged for 16 months, 50% in new French oak barrels and 50% in second use French oak barrels. It is unfiltered instead the winery uses careful racking. Expect aromas of ripe black fruit, wild berries, licorice, toasted bread and pepper. Best paired with roast beef, grilled red meats, aged cheeses.
