Description

Produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Artuke, Artuke Rioja is the signature wine of one of the most dynamic family estates in modern Rioja. The winery is run by brothers Arturo and Kike de Miguel, the fourth generation of a family deeply rooted in the village of Baños de Ebro in Rioja Alavesa. Their work has helped redefine the region by shifting the focus from ageing classifications towards village identity and the expression of individual vineyards. The family farms a collection of small, sustainably managed parcels planted on the limestone-clay slopes overlooking the River Ebro, where altitude and the Atlantic influence preserve freshness and aromatic precision. While embracing innovation, the brothers remain deeply connected to the historic traditions of Rioja Alavesa, and Artuke is conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic cosechero wines once made throughout the region.

Made from approximately 95% Tempranillo and 5% Viura, the wine is crafted using the traditional carbonic maceration method, with whole bunches fermented to enhance aromatic purity, freshness and texture. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and the wine is raised in concrete tanks rather than oak, preserving the vibrancy of the fruit and the character of the vineyard. Aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry are lifted by floral notes of violet and hints of fresh herbs and crushed stone. The palate is supple, juicy and energetic, with soft tannins, lively acidity and a subtle mineral edge that gives the wine remarkable drinkability. Fresh, authentic and unmistakably Rioja Alavesa, Artuke captures the spirit of the region’s traditional village wines while expressing the precision and terroir-focused philosophy of a new generation.
