Domaine de Cebene Les Bancels 2020

Domaine de Cébène is run by Brigitte Chevalier in Faugères. She works on schist soils at ~300 m altitude, certified organic and practising biodynamics. The vineyard “Les Bancèls” is terraced, north-facing, with old Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan vines, low intervention vinification and minimal sulphur.

The 2020 Les Bancèls is complex, dense and expressive: ripe black cherry, blueberry and wild garrigue (thyme, rosemary) flavours, spicy elements and deep schistous minerality. It has lifted freshness from altitude, balanced tannins and a long, powerful spicy finish. Drinking window suggested from about now through 2030+ depending on cellaring.
