Description

Nicolas Réau established Clos des Treilles in Anjou in 2002 after leaving a career as a professional pianist to devote himself to wine. The estate covers around 7 hectares and has been organically certified since 2012, with the vineyards farmed according to biodynamic principles and worked largely by hand. Victoire comes from a particularly varied site of Jurassic limestone, with a distinctive vein of pink schist, quartz, sand and silt. These mineral-rich soils and the gentle slopes of Anjou provide an ideal setting for Chenin Blanc, combining richness with freshness and mineral tension.

Victoire 2024 is made from 100% Chenin Blanc, harvested by hand and gently pressed before the must settles overnight. Fermentation begins naturally with indigenous yeasts in oak barrels and proceeds slowly, sometimes for up to a year, allowing the wine to develop depth without losing its energy. The wine then continues to mature on its lees before bottling. The 2024 has an expressive, textured profile, with ripe pear, quince, white flowers and citrus complemented by subtle honeyed, nutty and mineral nuances. Bright acidity and a fine saline, slightly bitter finish give it considerable length and precision. It is particularly good with oysters, scallops, shellfish, grilled or roasted fish, roast poultry and mature goat’s cheese.
