Gabriëlskloof is a distinguished wine estate in the Overberg region, east of Cape Town. Purchased in 2001 by Bernhard Heyns, the estate planted its first vines with the inaugural 2009 vintage. Peter-Allan Finlayson, Bernhard’s son-in-law, took over as winemaker in 2015 and is now Cellar Master. The estate spans 178 hectares, with 68 hectares under vine, sustainably farmed under the guidance of vineyard consultant Rosa Kruger, with plans to move towards organic farming. The estate produces vegan-friendly wines, reflecting careful vineyard and cellar practices.

The 2024 Whole Bunch Syrah is made entirely from estate-grown Syrah, hand-harvested and whole bunch fermented for ten days to enhance primary aromas, structure and freshness. It is aged in stainless steel tanks for eight months to preserve fruit purity. The wine displays vivid aromas of black cherry, raspberry and violets, with a juicy, lively palate, crisp acidity and a peppery, savoury finish. It pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled vegetables, game or charcuterie.
