The Altesse de Montagnieu comes from the “En Chinvre” parcel, where the vines are planted on white clay soils scattered with ammonite fossils, a distinctive limestone-rich terroir that suits the local Altesse grape. The domaine has farmed organically since 2007, with biodynamic practices also used on selected parcels. Its wines are made with a strong emphasis on native varieties and the character of the individual sites.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eMade from 100% Altesse, also known locally as Roussette, the grapes are harvested late when they have reached a degree of natural over-ripeness, concentrating their flavour while retaining the variety’s freshness. After careful pressing, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, followed by several months of ageing on the lees. Pale gold in colour, it combines floral and mineral aromas with white fruit and citrus, while the palate is fresh, pure and rounded, with a distinctly stony finish. With further bottle age, Altesse develops attractive honey and beeswax notes.
