Rutini Wines, founded in 1885 by Italian immigrant Felipe Rutini, is one of Argentina’s most esteemed wineries. Located in the Valle de Uco sub-region of Mendoza, the estate cultivates vineyards at altitudes between 900 and 1,500 metres, benefiting from dramatic diurnal temperature shifts, alluvial soils with clay and sand providing excellent drainage. These conditions produce grapes with intense concentration, refined tannins, and vibrant acidity. While not certified organic, Rutini employs sustainable viticulture practices to maintain soil health and biodiversity, ensuring the terroir is expressed in every bottle.

The 2019 Apartado Gran Malbec is a blend crafted from select parcels; 40% from Gualtallary, 40% from Altamira, and 20% from La Consulta, all from high-altitude vineyards with rocky, mineral-rich soils. Each vineyard parcel is fermented separately in small stainless steel tanks, allowing precise control of extraction, temperature, and maceration. After fermentation and maceration the individual lots are carefully tasted and blended to create the final wine. The blend is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (approximately 50% new. The wine reveals layered aromas of ripe blackberry, plum, violet, and hints of dark chocolate, coffee, and spice. The palate is full bodied with velvety tannins, bright acidity and a long, persistent finish. Pairs perfectly with grilled rib-eye, venison or aged cheeses.
