Today, Rosanna's sons Mauro and Roberto continue the estate's traditional approach, farming around 6 hectares with a strong emphasis on biodiversity and minimal intervention. Damasco comes from a single vineyard at 450 metres with an east-south-east exposure, where 25 year old Nebbiolo vines grow in sandy, calcareous soils rich in marl and sandstone.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDamasco 2020 is 100% Nebbiolo, harvested from the Treiso vineyard and fermented in large oak tanks before undergoing an unusually long 40-45 days of post-fermentation maceration. The wine is then aged for 18-24 months in large oak barrels, allowing the tannins to soften while retaining the freshness and character of the vineyard. Only around 1,000 bottles were produced. The result is an elegant but structured Barbaresco, with red cherry, wild strawberry and rose alongside orange peel, liquorice, dried herbs, tobacco, leather and subtle spice. Bright acidity and firm, finely grained tannins give the wine excellent length and structure, while the mineral character of the site emerges on the finish.
