Domaine Rouchier Antraigue Syrah 2021

Martine and Christian Rouchier are making some of the most exciting wines in the Northern Rhone today, from their 1.5 hectares in the heart of Saint-Joseph. They decided in 2010 to start making their own wines, with their own grapes, that the family was selling to local negociants until that point. They started converting them to organic viticulture, achieving certification in 2013, and since 2015, in addition to organic and biodynamic farming, they ditched all sulphur additions during winemaking.

This wine is a Saint-Joseph in its own right, but Martine and Chirstian decided to declassify it to show the difference in age of the vines (their other wine they label it under the Saint-Joseph appellation). Loads of spicy, smokey and briney typical notes, with bright red fruits in the back and a lovely mineral backbone and a firm yet gentle structure. They achieve a ton of flavours and a balanced structure with just only 11% of alcohol.
