The estate was acquired in 2004 by the Albada Jelgersma family, also owners of Château Giscours in Bordeaux. Its vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, with Demeter certification since 2005. The flagship Caiarossa comes from the estate's oldest vineyard, Podere Serra all'Olio, where varied soils of limestone, marine deposits and clay contribute to the wine's distinctive character. The 2017 vintage was particularly warm and dry, producing concentrated fruit balanced by the freshness of the coastal climate.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eA complex blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese and Alicante, with each variety fermented separately using indigenous yeasts in concrete and wooden vats. The wines are aged for 11–20 months in French oak, with approximately 30% new barrels, followed by six months in concrete tanks. Now developing beautifully, the 2017 offers layers of dark cherry, blackberry and ripe raspberry, alongside tobacco, leather, earthy notes and a distinctive mineral edge. Full-flavoured and concentrated, yet retaining impressive freshness, it has firm, finely textured tannins and a long, savoury finish.
