Bessin-Tremblay Chablis 1er Cru La Foret 2020
Trained to be an architect, Jean-Claude Bessin chose to take over his father-in-law's vineyard, located in Chablis, with his wife, Evelyne. His first vintage was in 1992. Today, joined by his son Romain, Jean-Claude is transforming his estate composed of 12 hectares, in biodynamic culture. His short range of Chablis is amongst the most highly regarded. This is from just over 1.5 hectares of vines, also planted in the late 1960s and early ’70s. There is plenty of ripe citrus fruit here, a little mandarin and grapefruit along with a touch of honeyed richness. It is weighty and concentrated, but with an underpinning freshness that gives a long, limestone finish.
