The rare indigenous Shavkapito grape is grown on small parcels around Mtskheta and in nearby Shida Kartli, where well drained soils and a continental climate with warm days and cool nights foster ripe fruit and balanced acidity. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2024 Shavkapito is made from 100% Shavkapito grapes, an ancient Kartli variety known for deep ruby colour, bright berry fruit and terroir reflective character. At Bagineti the grapes are typically hand harvested and vinified in the traditional Georgian approach, which may include fermentation and ageing in buried clay qvevri using indigenous yeasts, depending on the lot, to express the grape’s natural flavour and structure. Expect aromas of dark cherry and plum with herbal and earthy undertones, supported by fresh acidity and moderate tannins. Best served at about 14–18°C with grilled meats, hearty stews, roasted vegetables or mature cheeses.
