Guimaro Ribeira Sacra Blanco 2023

Pedro Rodríguez of Guimaro was among the first growers who brought international attention to the remote region of Ribeira Sacra. While it was sold and shared locally, their wines were not bottled and exported until 1991. Holding the name of “Guimaro” (meaning “rebel” in Gallego) - as a tribute to Pedro’s grandfather - this winery continues to be a shining example of Spanish wine innovation. A collaboratuve effort with Rau´l Perez in the early 200s helped transform old vine plots. Heavy with granite and slate and on the southern facing slopes, the vineyard has been transformed into a godello grape haven.

Guimaro Blanco is a wine based on Godello with approximately 35% of other native white grape varieties from different plots and villages in the surrounding area. A clean and fresh wine, that is fruit driven and has a lovely bay leaf herbaceous-ness to it. Perfectly paired with roasted dishes or happily drank on its own.
