Description
We’ve put together some of our favourite red wines in a presentation box complete with tasting notes. Here’s a rundown of the wines included:
Beaumas Pays d’Oc Pinot Noir – Cherry on the nose and surprisingly fruity and light on the palate; this Pinot Noir does a lot at an exceptional price.
La Pinède – Costières de Nimes – Red fruits and Spices form the back bone of this southern Rhone wine, along with silky tannins and ample mouth.
Ciello Rosso Nero d’Avola 2019 – Made from organic grapes, Ciello Rosso Nero d’Avola has freshness and energy, dark red colour, hints of black plum, coffee and chocolate on the nose, pleasant spiciness in the mouth with smooth dark fruit flavours.
Gonzalo Grijalba ‘Gran Cerdo’ – “A large proportion of inexpensive Spanish Tempranillo tastes over-oaked and confected. This unoaked version had good clean cherry fruits, nice supporting acidity and a cleansing minerality. Well-made wine at the price.” John Wilson, Irish Times
Adega de Penalva Dao Tinto – Delicious easy drinking red from native Portuguese grapes. Crunchy red fruit, juicy, supple tannins.
Evaristo, Vinho Regional Lisboa Tinto – A deliciously fruity blend of indigenous Portuguese and international grape varieties grown in the vineyards surrounding Lisbon. This easy-drinking wine is bursting with aromas of ripe cherries, juicy blackberries and blackcurrants.
